Cowl and Headband

One of those versatile patterns that you can use with different functions. For this cowl/headband, I used Da Fazenda Merino Bulky, a supersoft yarn.

Size 50 cm x 18 cm

Material 1 skein of  Da Fazenda Corriedale Jumbo (100% corriedale wool - 100g/98m) Needles 10 mm Notions: scrap yarn to leave sts on hold.

Gauge 5 cm = 8 sts in k1-p1 ribbing

Note

This is a very simple project for beginers. For a better result, I’d make this cowl starting with a provisional cast on and grafting the stitches at the end.

Directions

Cast on 24 sts. Work in k1-p1 ribbing for 16 rows.

Then, work in ribbing only the 8 first sts for 36 rows. (leave the others 16 sts on hold)

Cut the yarn and do the same with the 8 sts in the middle. Then cut the yarn again and work the last 8 sts.

You’re gonna have 3 bands just like this:

Then, cross the bands to make a braid:

Reattach the yarn at the begning of the row and work more 16 rows in k1-p1 ribbing.

Bind off and sew.
